You will need a strong, well-built ergonomic chair while working. Remember that you can not stand all day at your desk. You will need to also sit. When you are using a sit-stand desk, when you lower your desk to be able to sit and work, you will need to have a chair that is comfortable and good for your posture and back.
I have bought many chairs in my lifetime and have pretty much hated them all. 90% of them hurt my back after about one hour of working or even less with some chairs.
When I started to learn about ergonomics and how to be more productive at work, I started to understand why all these chairs I had bought were so uncomfortable.
I also have a bad habit even when I am using my ergonomic chair to sit up towards the front of the chair and not use the back support. I am working on this habit. I try to remind myself to sit back correctly in the desk chair.
My favorite Ergonomic Chair is the:
The black WorkPro Quantum 9000 Series Ergonomic Mid-Back Mesh Chair
I bought this chair about 6 years ago and it is still the best chair I ever bought. This ergonomic chair has a 6 to 8 hour range of time to sit. Of course, I don’t sit that long.
This is great for when I am not standing at my desk to work. It is totally flexible and easy to adjust the height, the seat, the back and the arms. It is made out of mesh which I really like since I live in Florida and it gets hot here even with the A/C on.
I bought the black chair for my production office which has white furniture because it looks good with the contrast.

The only chair that I would consider outside of my current ergonomic chair is the kneeling chair.
One of the issues I have discovered is that when I am typing on my computer from a sitting position, ( this is why I like my standing desk), is I tend to lean over and up on the end of the chair. I find myself doing this.
I didn’t even realize I do this until I started researching all about ergonomic standing desks, sit-stand desks, stand-up desks and ergonomic chairs. I started studying about posture, sitting positions, etc and found I am not sit-ing all the way to the back of the chair so I am not always utilizing the lumbar support feature of the ergonomic chair.
StarSun Depot- Ergonomic Kneeling Chair
I am considering this chair because of what I stated above about my sitting position. Kneeling chairs sit you in a position allowing your diaphragm to move better and promote better breathing and blood circulation.
The saddle seat is in the shape of a triangle. This lowers the thighs, opens up the hips and creates a healthy curve for your spine.
I would use this one and keep my ergonomic WorkPro chair and then switch between the both of them.

I am excited to try out this style of an ergonomic chair.
The last style of an ergonomic style chair I will go over is the Classic Balance Bill Chair.
This is not for everyone. I would recommend that you have good balance or don’t buy this style of chair.
Gaiam Classic Balance Ball Chair –
Benefits of the balance ball chair:

- The product claims to have a guarantee ( always check before buying)
- It comes apart and also needs to be assembled
- You don’t need a standup desk or a standing desk, it works with a regular height desk
- Max. weight is 300 pounds for this ergonomic ball chair
The claim by the manufacturer is that this ergonomic chair was created by health and fitness experts. But it does not tell you who those experts are or how much of experts they are.
The claim is that this ball chair promotes proper back alignment and reduces pain in your back from sitting too long.
The other claim is that this chair boosts your energy and focus. I did not find this to be true when I tried one of these chairs. In fact, I was so focused on keeping my balance and not falling off of the ball chair that I had a difficult time concentrating on my work.
The negative part of this ball chair is it only works if you are between the height of 5 feet to 5 feet 11 inches. No taller and no shorter.
The reason I bring up these claims is because according to some university studies on balance ball chairs, the results were not what the health experts saying.
The results of the studies said that productivity actually went down for employees who were using the balance ball chairs.
